Formal Night

As part of another Paper Secrets challenge, I made this layout in order to haul out some of my stash that has been lying dormant in my craft room. This particular challenge was to use alphabet stickers in a different way. I used some Making Memories stickers that were hiding in a box. I applied some black glitter for pizazz!

Dreaming of summer

The temps outside here in Iowa are above freezing, and 80% of the snow has melted. I'm not a big fan of this in-between weather. I love the snow-covered days when the town looks like it was built on the surface of the moon, and I love 70-degree weather when I can have fun outside without getting hot. So, I look forward to the days of shorts and sandals.

These photos were taken on a trip to southern New Mexico when my sister graduated from college in May of 2004. We stopped at White Sands National Monument to play in the sand. Like Iowa in the winter, White Sands looks like the surface of the moon. Whiteness as far as the eye can see. And with a beautiful late spring day, a 6-year-old Sophie felt the bliss of sand in her toes and sun in her hair.

Scrapbooking the pretty

While I've considered shabby chic and flowery vintage styles appealing, I haven't been one to scrapbook them. 'Til now.

I stumbled upon an incredible artist and her (relatively) new line of scrapbook products when I took a class at Scrapfest in Minnesota last year then I won a ton of loot at a crop. The Girls' Paperie by Margie Romney-Aslett is such a fun brand. I can easily create pretty layouts of my pretty girl with Margie's papers, ribbon, trim and other elements. And with this week's Got Sketch, I created a gorgeous layout in less than 30 minutes, including cleanup time!
