1942

Paper Secrets is having a big birthday bash this weekend. Many challenges are under way including a Shabby Chic / Vintage challenge for which I created this layout:

Elements of the layout needed to include a photo taken before 1950, paint, stitching, distressing, and pastel tones. This photo was taken of Sophie's grandmother and her brother in 1942. The swirl is a Tim Holtz grungeboard element that I painted to match the layout. I stitched a different swirl using a pattern from Bazzill and distressed the photo with a blade and brown ink. The background paper has a bluish-green tone and is from Basic Grey's Curio collection.

Supplies:
Cardstock: CTMH (Chocolate)
Patterned paper: Basic Grey (Curio)
Journaling card: Webster's Pages
Paper flowers: Recollections
Ribbon: Prima
Embroidery thread: CTMH (Colonial White)
Stitching pattern: Bazzill Basics
Swirl element: Tim Holtz Grungeboard
Paint: Americana Acrylic (Warm White), CTMH ink (Chocolate)
